The General Directorate for Contemporary Art and Architecture and Suburban Areas, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism, and AMACI – Associazione dei Musei d’Arte Contemporanea Italiani are proud to present the third Museo Chiama Artista project, an initiative aimed at actively supporting the system of contemporary art in our country by commissioning Italian artists to create new works that will then be presented in the museum network.

The new Board of Directors of AMACI requests a hearing with the prime minister and the competent ministers

The Board of Directors of AMACI – Associazione dei Musei d’Arte Contemporanea Italiani (Association of Italian Museums of Contemporary Art), composed of Chairwoman Beatrice Merz, Vice-chairman Ludovico Pratesi, and Board members Giacinto Di Pietrantonio, Gianfranco Maraniello, Anna Mattirolo, Riccardo Passoni and Angela Rorro met yesterday, Monday, 16 April 2012, at the Fondazione Galleria Civica in Trento to discuss the critical situation of various contemporary art museums and galleries that are members of the association.

In a particularly complex period for our fragile art system, including drastic budget cuts, a time when museums devoted to promoting contemporary art that are trying find remedies by reducing the number of exhibitions or transforming themselves into foundations, AMACI – Associazione dei Musei d’Arte Contemporanea Italiani has invited twelve artists from the newest generations to present an image of 2012: an interpretation of the crisis that also offers an indication of how to move beyond it.

Cosa Vostra

Following the 2011 budget cuts to cultural activities, AMACI promoted a campaign to raise public awareness in support of contemporary art through eleven “posters” created by eleven Italian artists.
