The Valenzi Collection has been assembled for an exhibition in 2013 and was created through exchanges of works and gifts between Maurizio Valenzi, Mayor of Naples from 1975 to 1983, and several artists.
The creation of a collection does not always follow coherent and recognizable paths. However, as a "living" organism, symbolically more than the simple sum of the material objects that make it up, it is able to act like cryptic entries of a personal diary and tell us about biographical elements, life plots, sudden and fortuitous encounters, feelings and affections. This corpus tells the history of Naples between the 1950s and 1960s, as well as that of Valenzi's life, from his youth to his election as Mayor of the city.

The exhibition consists of about 60 works: the guided tour will delineate the plurality of styles from Guttuso to Matta through paintings, ceramics and sculptures.
