THREE WORKS BY FRANCA MARANO '
FOR THE DAY OF CONTEMPORARY
IN THE ART GALLERY OF BARI
On the occasion of the seventeenth edition of the Contemporary Day organized by AMACI (Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums), the “Corrado Giaquinto” Metropolitan Art Gallery exhibits three works by Franca Maranò (Bari1920-2015), Research of Origin n. 8/42 (1968), Cantastorie: La storia (1982), La Fear (1985), received as a donation from the artist's heirs.
Franca Maranò, multiform personality of painter, sculptress, poetess and ceramist, founder in 1970, with five other artists of the Centrosei gallery in Bari, was the pioneer of female art in Puglia in the late twentieth century. He has exhibited his works in important group exhibitions in Italy and abroad, including the Maggio di Bari (1962), the Termoli Award (from 1963 to 1971), the Bari Art Expo (1976, 1977, 1989), the " K18 ”, Stoffwechsel, Kassel (1981) and various editions of Art Basel in Basel (from 1981 to 1985). Since the seventies, the series of Sewing has been added to the production of paintings and ceramics, replacing color with thread, brush with needle and the cycle of mental clothes, multi-material creations with medieval canvases.
The works donated to the Pinacoteca belong to various periods of the artist's production and are added to the glazed ceramic panel, purchased in 1989.
In the afternoon of the same day, at 5.30 pm, the presentation of the donation by Christine Farese Sperken, a scholar of the artist, is scheduled.
Free admission for the whole day.
