On the occasion of the 17th Giornata del Contemporaneo promoted by AMACI, the artists Giuseppe Mirigliano and Anto Milotta open the doors of their studio to present to the public some of their latest productions and research.
The studio located inside the so-called - palazzaccio - modernist architecture grafted in the medieval skyline of the Old Port of Genoa -, situated in one of the most multicultural neighborhoods of the city and offering a privileged view of one of the most important ports of the Mediterranean, becomes not only a container of artistic production, but also a symbolic place of confrontation and dialogue.

Specifically, Giuseppe Mirigliano will present some works, which continue the long pictorial research, also carried out during the residency in Viafarini in Milan in 2019, and implemented in recent years through the use of different mediums such as sound, video and poetry.
The proposed works want to be an opportunity to reflect on the meaning and role of making painting today; of a vision that is suspended in the flow of the world.
Trying to question, through a layered investigation of the medium of painting and poetry, some of the urgencies of our contemporaneity. Fields and open sets of possibilities, in which to try to express the extreme fragility of the present, trying, however, to perceive a balance and an essential energy that belong to reality.

Anto Milotta presents instead some fragments of his last project #IORESTOACASA, created in collaboration with the artist Arianna Spanò. The work, winner of the call Cantica21, produced by the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, entered last August in the permanent collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Villa Croce in Genoa.
The video installation, produced during the long months of the health emergency inside the studio, is exhibited for this occasion in the form of studies and fragments. Through the presentation of the raw footage of the 8mm video, some archival materials and other visual and sound elements, the idea is to re-enact the environment and the situation that was formed during the work of the project, in an attempt to bring out the intimate and emotional side that has characterized all phases of creation and finalization of the project.
