Exhibition seventeenth edition of Morlotti-Imbersago Art Prize
Comune di Imbersago
11 December 2021
14:30 – 17:30

The Municipality of Imbersago promotes the final phase of the 17th edition of the biennial “Morlotti-Imbersago” painting prize on the theme “Alternative landscape”. In accentuating its diversity from other generalist reward initiatives aimed at young contemporary art, the "Morlotti-Imbersago" Prize, intended for young and very young painters under 35, with this edition wanted to focus even more its identity on a " subject ”ancient and contemporary at the same time as that of the landscape and the natural and human environment. It was a theme chosen before the beginning of the global health emergency and since this emerged, in some way the meaning of the theme has expanded, taking on a more comprehensive and more general meaning.
The "Morlotti" Prize is promoted by the Municipality of Imbersago with the patronage of the Lombardy Region, the Province of Lecco, Parco Adda Nord, Ecomuseo Adda of Leonardo, the Corrente Foundation of Milan, the Society for Fine Arts and Permanent Exhibition of Milan, with the contribution of LeoGalleries. The initiative is once again dedicated to the memory of the great master Ennio Morlotti (1910-1992) who for many years lived and worked in this small town, portraying some of the most beautiful corners of the Adda river and impressing the figurative painting of his years a suggestive evocative expressiveness and a large character of formal research. For these reasons, in September 1988 the Municipality of Imbersago wanted to confer honorary citizenship on him.

The Morlotti-Imbersago Lifetime Achievement Award was awarded this year to the artist Lucia Pescador of Milan, an eclectic Milanese artist who has always favored drawing, working on issues related to nature, culture and art. As usual, the LeoGalleries gallery in Monza will set up a personal exhibition curated by Giorgio Seveso, Chiara Gatti and Simona Bartolena in the course of 2022. At the end of the first exhibition set up in Imbersago from 21 November to 11 December, in 2022 the exhibition will be hosted by the Permanente di Milano, for a second stage which will present the works in competition to the public together with the career prize awarded to Lucia Pescador.
