Stefano Cagol's solo exhibition curated by Emanuele Quinz entitled "The Fate of Energy. Glacial ice, overheating and divinations" at Belasi Castle in Campodenno (Tn) presents an extended and unprecedented journey in the consolidated research of this artist, already awarded by the Italian Council. In the splendid setting of the medieval manor house with 15th- and 16th-century Tyrolean frescoes immersed in apple orchards at the foot of the Dolomites, a Unesco heritage site, we find some twenty works, video, photography, light, sound and installation, ranging from rare works dating from the mid-1990s to the early 2000s to the one now on display at the Venice Biennalel in the Archivi della Misericordia.
The visitor enters a visionary itinerary through universal metaphors, contemporary rituals, ice and floods by strongly evocative works that testify to the consistent and anticipatory spirit of this artist, who has always been committed to dissecting complex issues of today and of our being in the world, between natural phenomena and the impact of our choices.
The exhibition is the first dedicated to Stefano Cagol in Val di Non, where this artist has decided to live for almost twenty years, and it inaugurates the exhibition programme of Castel Belasi Cultura, which from this year becomes articulated and continuous, after a few pilot years at the end of the extended restoration process.
In addition to the Venice Biennale, Stefano Cagol is also exhibiting this year at Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg in Germany and Kunsthall 3.14 in Bergen, Norway.
The exhibition at Castel Belasi is on view until October 30, 2022.
