Renato Leotta's solo exhibition at MACTE is the result of the prize assigned to him on the occasion of the 62 Premio Termoli 2020-2021.
One year after the award, the museum presents his project dedicated to "that space of time between land sea and sky", in the artist's own words. The beach as a threshold between worlds is "a long indefinite edge, in which forces act to set the poetic narratives in motion". The rooms of MACTE will show "a story told through images, sensations and artworks, about landings, departures and stillness, in which time and the self become one". The filmic and sculptural works, as usual in the artist's poetics, take us to an elsewhere where any geographic coordinate collapses and we read a universal co-presence of rituals, symbols, gestures.
Leotta will spend the weeks preceding the exhibition in the region, in close contact with that stretch of the Adriatic Sea between the city of Termoli and the Tremiti islands, in order to create a work on site. He will also select some works from the collection of the Premio Termoli to be shown in conjunction with the exhibition La soglia.
