The MIC - International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza - together with 38 other Italian museums - was selected for its quality proposal by the national tender "PAC - Plan for Contemporary Art" aimed at supporting projects for the acquisition, production, and enhancement of contemporary works of art and creativity destined for the Italian public heritage, in implementation of Law 29/2001 which established - twenty years ago - the Contemporary Art Plan, for a value of over three million euros.
The PAC aims to increase the public heritage of contemporary art, through the acquisition of works by Italian and foreign artists, and to implement it, a public selection is launched in 2020. The aim is to encourage the quality and continuity of the increase in public collections of contemporary art through three intervention dresses: acquisitions can also concern collections and archives related to the contemporary, the production of new works, and the enhancement of collections already acquired.
The MIC of Faenza has been awarded a substantial loan as part of the acquisitions which involves the purchase of 9 new works, namely Bertozzi & Casoni, Il Cestino Della Discordia, Pablo Echaurren, Il Mio Ombelisco; Giuseppe Ducrot, Cuccagna Ittica; Sissi (Daniela Olivieri), Vasomadre; Nathalie Doyen, Temps Feutré; Ornaghi Prestinari, Conchiglia; Diego Cibelli, Generosity Generation; Giacinto Cerone, Big Red Stems.
These works will be inaugurated within the permanent itinerary of the Museum on the occasion of the "Giornata del Contemporaneo".
