On October 8, during the 18th edition of the Contemporary art Museum Day promoted by AMACI, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation will open to the public for a special visit to the Palazzo della Farnesina and its contemporary art collection, as part of the ‘Aperti per voi’ (Open for you) initiative from the Italian Touring Club.
On this occasion, at 11 a.m. in "Aldo Moro" conference room of the Farnesina, the photographer Antonio Biasiucci along with professor and curator Gianluca Riccio will discuss about his site-specific artwork "Magma" that has been recently installed at the fifth floor. “Magma” is the result of extensive documentation work conducted between 1984 and 1995 on Italy's active volcanoes. These 44 images are not simple records of natural phenomena; they recreates mysterious atmospheres through strong chiaroscuro effects drawing the viewer into a muffled, out-of-time dimension.
Antonio Biasiucci has won major international awards and has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions. His works are held in major museums in Italy and abroad (MAXXI, PAN, Madre, FSRR).
The presentation will be followed by a visit to the gallery of Italian Contemporary Photography, installed on the fifth floor of the Palazzo della Farnesina. This tour will end after the visit of the first floor, where the most historical artworks of Farnesina Collection are displayed.
Additional tours of the Collection and its galleries are also planned.
