ZEN - B is a photographic project realised by a group of girls and boys, aged between twelve and fourteen, during a participatory advocacy workshop promoted by Save the Children, in collaboration with Laboratorio Zen Insieme during the year 2020. The advocacy workshop was one of the activities of S.C.AT.T.I. (School, Community, Activation, Territories, Innovation), a project selected by the social enterprise Con i Bambini, within the framework of the Fund for the fight against juvenile educational poverty.
The ZEN - B project aims to narrate the Zen2 neighbourhood through a process that places the urban landscape and those who live in the neighbourhood at the centre. It searches for geometries as a significant element of the architectural structures, within which the inhabitants can be inserted. The sign B in this project is meant as an alphabetisation of the number two that characterises the name of the neighbourhood and is also intended as a "plan B" in the visual representation of Zen, which is usually narrated on the basis of rigidly pre-constituted and standardised opinions.
The photographs are characterised by a very strong contrast between light and shadow in Zen as in any other neighbourhood, because there is no place where there is only shadow or only light.
