IThe Visual Arts Department "Officine Arte ed Architettura" of the Liceo De Ruggieri in Massafra participates in the 18th National Contemporary Day, organized by the A.M.A.C.I, launching the collective exhibition project open to schools entitled ".. for an ecology of the mind ! "
Quoting Bateson, the De Ruggieri artistic high school relaunches its work as a metalogue: that is, a conversation on a problematic topic such as Ecology. This collective conversation aims to render relevant not only the countless interventions of the participants, but the very structure of the choral debate.
This year our institute conducted a collective installation with the schools of the area network, to see the school community as a place of social and environmental rebirth from which to start again. This didactic experience was configured as an open workshop aimed at young students of lower secondary schools and assisted by the students and teachers of the section. Domenico De Ruggieri Art School. The initiative made it possible to create an installation and performative work entitled Eco-logos which this year will also be placed in Piazza S.S Medici in Massafra to be freely enjoyed by citizens on Saturday 8 October, on the 18th Contemporary Day. The modular work is made up of almost 200 pieces made of cardboard on which to perceive a pattern repeated over and over again. The eco-logos pattern was created as part of the artistic laboratory dedicated to the creation of a series of decorative motifs, led by Prof. Maria Grazia Carriero who had as its object the archaeological finds preserved in the Marta Museum in Taranto. The pattern selected to give life to the installation work was in this case conceived by the pupil Mariagrazia Carpignano and is inspired by a detail extracted from a Magno-Greek vase painting with black figures. A project that sought to combine past and present through the language of contemporary art to convey an ecological message such as the one chosen for the XVIII Day of the Contemporary. The goal is to tell the reborn vitality of contemporary art in our country, after the restrictions due to two years of pandemic. Ecology and sustainability are global urgencies that need to be observed by a spirit sensitive to contemporary art through a renewed awareness and a more widespread sensitivity. The work will literally be "worn" by school students and will move by recreating the movement of the idea, a drone will resume the performance from above to create a documentary act to be published on platforms starting from the contemporary day.
