The Art Museum of the city of Ravenna is the first public museum to acquire one of the works of Edoardo Tresoldi with the contribution of Marcegaglia company. Tresoldi is defined the artist of the "Absent Matter" and of wire mesh cathedrals, and nominated by Forbes among the most influential European artists under 30 (2017).
The installation Sacral was chosen by the curator Giorgia Salerno for the exhibition “Dante. A Pop Epic", held at MAR in 2021 on the occasion of the seventh centenary of Dante's death. It was selected in the contemporary art path to ideally reinterpret the Castle of the Great Souls (Divine Comedy - Hell), a symbolic place inhabited by the souls of those who live in the desire for God, but without hope and destined for eternal suffering
It is no coincidence that the sculpture is installed in the sixteenth-century cloister of the Museum of Art of the city, that was the monastery of Santa Maria in Porto, celebrating the Greek Madonna that Dante mentions in Paradise. Sacral will continue, therefore, to give to the public the opportunity to ideally retrace Dante's journey by entering into the Castle and physically into the work of art.
