Once again this year, the Centro Friulano Arti Plastiche will take part, with the artistic works of some of its associates, in the Contemporary Art Day - promoted by AMACI Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums.
In the wake of the activities to enhance and preserve the memory of the Friulian artists of the past - carried out for years by the members of the Centro Friulano Arti Plastiche - on this occasion we intend to propose a reinterpretation of the artworks of some of these artists - who have also been members of the Center - revisiting them with a contemporary eye.
Eight large-format canvases will be placed at the foot of the Udine castle hill to "meet" the citizens and bring them to reflect on our past and our future.
Our "elders", in the 60s, pierced the Iron Curtain through art, establishing cross-border relationships and bringing together artists from Friuli, Carinthia and Slovenia, regions divided by an impenetrable barrier at that time.
The political tensions that, in those years, tormented our region - an outpost in the northeast of our world - were canceled with art, by uniting the artists in a common goal of peace, brotherhood and collaboration.
This memory tells us about the strength of art in opening roads and this must not be forgotten and must be perpetuated.
This is why, with our artworks, the commitment in the promotion of Sustainable Development of the UN Agenda 2030 - which began in 2015 - continues.
