On the occasion of the 18th Contemporary Day promoted by AMACI - Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums, the Galleria Arte Toma hosts for the second consecutive year MIRC - Independent Contemporary Research Movement, a project conceived and curated by Marta Toma.

MIRC is a widespread artistic project that establishes a connection between two opposing attractive poles. A 1200 km route that crosses contemporary Italy from Milan to Reggio Calabria (MI-RC) for an investigation of the identity / otherness that make it up, eliminating the north / south - center / periphery - destination / origin dictomy.

MIRC is a fluid and inclusive container that goes beyond the physicality of places. An immersive HUB of ideas and projects open to all the expressive languages of those who live or have lived an experience of spiritual, intellectual or professional confinement. An exhibition format that is configured in a series of "rooms" (physical / virtual) in which "dialogue windows" are activated between multiple users, such as the homonymous social interface of the 90s.

The second stage of MIRC is contaminated with new proposals and symbolically attacks the walls of the gallery with the billboards and projections of two young visual designers in the “Project room: GRB + GT”.

Their first collaboration was born in the context of OLO, a performative collective active between Milan and Reggio Calabria, whose aesthetic research focuses on the effects of image and sound distortion as a tool for altering and expanding sensitive perception in a holistic key (from Greek ὅλος - hòlos, meaning "total", "global"), pursuing the concept of total art.

Inspired by the driving theme of the contemporary day, in this chapter they question the concept of environmental sustainability in the era of massification and commodification of which they are direct heirs. Instrumentalizing words, images, gestures, reiterated and decontextualized sounds, stitched up in a dense web of contradictions, they trace a path open to infinite trajectories in which time and space flow fluidly in a kaleidoscope of disconnected perspectives that is only one of the infinite possible worlds.

GRB is Giovanni Romeo Bova (Treviglio, BG - '92), freelance graphic designer and illustrator close to the LGBT community.
His versatile and irreverent aesthetic joins him to the teamwork of C3, one of the most influential independent realities of the Milanese fashion scene, with which he has collaborated with, among other things, iD Magazine, L'OFFICIEL Magazine, WRPDMagazine as a video editor and photography assistant.

GT is Giulia Toma (Reggio Calabria - '95), graphic designer and art director who collabs with artistics collectives and factory.
In 2020 founded "Useless Manifests", an independent and self-referential "metagraphic" project that consists of the creation of a series of "empty-sense" posters, intended as a means of distorting the graphic and semantic element.
