ICCD boasts one of the largest photography collections nationwide with a few million phototypes ranging from 1840 to today, as well as a one-of-a-kind aerial photography collection.
Through local commissions, acquisitions, artist residencies, workshops, studies and research, exhibitions, events and publications, ICCD is one of the main institutional interlocutors in Italy in the panorama of both historical and contemporary photography. In 2021 the ICCD OFF SITE formula was born with which the Institute aims to go beyond its physical boundaries to present the results of its research activities in other locations. To date, exhibitions have been held at: Rocca Roveresca di Senigallia in collaboration with the Regional Directorate of Museums of the Marche, Ca 'Pesaro International Gallery of Modern Art in Venice in collaboration with the Regional Directorate of Veneto Museums; Palazzo Samone in Cuneo; Italian War History Museum of Rovereto.
On the occasion of the day of contemporary 2022, the numerous activities of contemporary photography in progress will be told.
