InCUBOAzione on the occasion of Giornata del Contemporaneo presents "There is no face": an unpublished project by Federica Gonnelli - inspired by the work of the writer Jorge Luis Borges. A research at the same time rational and sentimental - to which the artist has accustomed us, but which never ceases to innovate - is the basis of the proposed installations, in which Federica uses, for the first time, as a further tool for reworking her images the controversial, impetuous and daring computer technology offered by A.I.: artificial intelligence, touching on those universal themes that have always been dear to her, in particular that of identity. Do you fear that through the filter of the A.I. they result – not unexpectedly, because this is what the artist's goal aimed at from the beginning, but surprisingly – strengthened, above all in the feeling of the unrepeatable uniqueness of the individual experience. Universal themes that are in fact always accompanied by the originality of the destiny of each of us, by unforeseen coincidences, by chance. Federica is capable of great empathy with the other individual, managing to create with her fascinating works and installations between symmetry and disorder, norm and absurd, multiform worlds; albeit governed by logic and in this case also by the algorithm. The artist overcomes the perennial difficulty of transmitting and communicating personal experiences and thoughts among similar ones, through representations in symbols and allegories, appearances and digressions, intuitions and metaphors of sometimes personal elements to allow the general sharing of a theme. A particular language that does not prevail over the experience of the work, a precise language, the result of constant attention and concern, used in all of Federica's works, which uses conventional signs, which become such and familiar over the course of time and the seemingly silent dialogue between artist - work - observer, made up of cross-references, recurring and favourite elements, images, nouns, colours and adjectives, giving substance and transforming sensitive emotions and ideas into reality. Devices, as the artist defines her works, which do not serve to generate answers, but serve to advance hypotheses, conjectures and questions, whose activation is entrusted to the observer, the same individual other. A propensity, this of Federica, towards the other that comes from her personal and family history and culture, from the environment in which she grew up, strongly characterized by the works of the Renaissance and by the values of Humanism and which gives rise to a research extremely knowledgeable, disciplined and proportionate. The project starts from the work on the wall: "There is no face that is not about to be erased like the face of a dream", an expansion of the homonymous work on paper presented in the magazine/object "CIVICO 23 No Profit Art Space” in Salerno last June.
