On the occasion of Giornata del Contemporaneo, online the virtual exhibition by Cristina Gualmini. Black and white digital photography.

'Gualmini, an international artist and photographer, employs an artistic language with a strong transformative energy and a technical imprint. Her vision of art, rooted in the intimacy of nature and the medium she uses to capture it, digital photography, involves a cumulative process, mark by mark, in a continuum between the observed element and the final communicative system. The outcomes are images filled with surprising autonomy. Gualmini's mastery of the technical medium and her awareness of the results resolve all the flaws of digital art that can be summed up in aesthetic consumerism and the ease of capturing offered by technology in general in image production. Her works rely on a triple reality, from nature to photography, to another, cumulative virtual reality in which the image, having changed its original function, has also changed its identity. The fundamental motive for Gualmini is to capture the cellular transformation of nature transferred to the code used in image production. The result appears to have broken down the physical and technical boundaries between photography and painting, interchanging them. The intense visual sum attributed to nature is consistent and tactile. Expressed in close-ups of minimal sediments and drifts, the image shows its expansion. Every element seems thoughtful and lives with an inner aesthetic pursuit of stellar properties, attracted by a philosophical inspiration.'
