Descrizione

The portrait, since its debut, has changed, modifying its purposes and style.
Initially the portrait was made in profile, in the Renaissance centuries it was rotated to three-quarters, until it became frontal and then disappeared for a period of time in which the landscape had taken over.
The return and experimentation of the portrait was with new forms and methods. Many artists who, out of necessity, commission and experimentation, tackled this theme with wonderful results. The final destination was the mixture and connection with photography in which hyperrealism took on its features and exaggerated it in the details and photographic resemblance.

The new portrait or self-portrait is the "selfie": stereotyped, partly true, crude or beautiful, but now an integral part of a style very far from the classic portrait.
In this workshop, starting from the selfie, we will address the concept of the reflection and representation of ourselves.
What is re-trait? Re-tracted, that is, drawn twice: it is first of all an attempt to stop time, but more importantly the bivalence which concerns, first of all, the somatic sphere and secondly the emotional part of one's experience: how I see myself, how others see me. others, if I recognize myself.
By cutting the portrait in half, then breaking down the shape, we will reintegrate it in an unreal and imaginative way, or try to copy it faithfully.

A simple and complex laboratory at the same time, but interesting because it reveals something about ourselves, perhaps unknown, discovering how wonderful we are.
Images and selfies can be sent to corsi@silviabruzzi.it or bring the image in A4 format in color or black and white on the day of the art workshop.

Saturday 7 October 2023
The sessions will be from 10-12 / 15-17 / 17-19 for a maximum of 6 students per session.
