XILOMORFI is a project in which the works of Enzo Capozza and Maria Rita Fedeli are protagonists. A journey to discover the shapes, essences and colors that characterize the universe of the couple of artists from Viggiù, enriched by installations with a strong visual impact such as "Sciamano", present inside the exhibition space, and "Finger of Goddess", placed outside, overlooking Via Albuzzi. On display not only sculptures, but also works on paper.
ENZO CAPOZZA and MARIA RITA FEDELI both 1973, graduated from the Liceo Artistico A. Frattini in Varese and the Accademia di Brera in Milan, and specialized in artistic metalworking at Arnaldo Pomodoro's T.A.M. center with Eliseo Mattiacci. They participate in exhibitions, national and international awards, sculpture symposia and create installations in urban and suburban spaces in Italy and abroad. Their works are present in private and public collections.
"Wood, a living material with its history and potential, has always fascinated and attracted us in an almost ancestral and visceral way. Wood becomes the expressive medium to concretize our imagery into plastic forms. There is an element of respect when we work and "fleshing out" the material. Cutting wood is like carving flesh, the fiber of the wood is the "flesh" of the plant. Our sculptures arise from a research design phase, where through preparatory drawings and sketches we visualize ideas and constructive potential. To create our works we use the electric saw, like a "pencil." The reiteration of the marks produced on the surface of the wood, continues until the desired shape is achieved, creating a rough, faceted texture. The color becomes complementary to the shape and vice versa. The use of anilines or acrylics creates a new vibrant epidermis and accentuates the transmutation. For us, art is continuous experimentation, the search for new perceptual possibilities, the awakening of primal suggestions and the creation of new sensory opportunities."
