On the occasion of the 19th Contemporary Day Sesto Senso Art Gallery is exhibiting Antonio Tamburro's new work entitled Coffee.

In the center of the painting, the artist depicts a glass table around which are arranged four young women portrayed in elegant clothes on shades of gray. The women, the protagonists of the work, are reclining on barely hinted armchairs, arranged in discreet poses and marked by dreamy expressions; the faces characterized by balance and harmony follow the feminine ideal of Greek art: sinuous bodies with pale complexions.

Everything in fact appears to us as a dreamlike vision, not only because of the repetition of blues, grays and whites, which make the painting an almost monochromatic representation, but also because of the depiction of the Café, defined by the rapidly executed brushstrokes and the succession, in the center of the painting, of the tables converging toward the vanishing point. The painting suggests, through this particular perspective, the continuity of the room in an undefined space, so that the viewer can deduce the events of the depicted scene based on his or her imagination. The effect produced by the artist is that of suspended time, an almost surreal dimension, in which the women are distinguished by their gloomy beauty and elusive gaze. The barely noticeable drawing, characterized by the lines of oil pastel, in some places lends even more suggestiveness to the work, which seems to vibrate with sensuality and melancholy.
