“Untranslated” is a collective exhibition project involving our two galleries and thirteen  artists, each of them has chosen an untranslatable word  in relation to their  artistic language and their life philosophy. So, the theme of non-translatability is connected with the theme of Art and with languages of cultures that are only apparently far away from each other. Sign and Word support each other, so the words that are literally non-translatable can have a chance of being visually  and emotionally translated,  in a discovering game of the Other and of one's self.

We are inclined to emotions and feelings that are often difficult to translate,  being produced by confused and cloudy sensations,  at least until we don't associate the right words to them, just those that  best reveal  the real nature of the feeling we are actually living. Language is in fact our map in the foggy labyrinth of our personal expression.   So why don't we fight the problem of non-communication and mental staticity in the linguistically impoverished time we live in? Why not use new words and a new vocabulary?
It's not a search for new words in fact, but for words we have always been missing.
Art is a language that stands outside time, it's universally understandable, and it can be a very good support for this research, creating a stimulating project both for the artists and for their public.  This exhibition is on almost for the whole year, and invites the artists to suggest their untranslatable word, so as to produce a small collective vademecum, acquiring a superior linguistic completeness, both individual and collective.
