As part of the 19th edition Giornata del Contemporaneo Amaci - will take place in the stables of the historic Palazzo Pantaleo (18th century), the inauguration of the solo exhibition of the artist Lanfranco Aceti Whispers of Amnesia, curated by international critic Artemis Potamianou.
The exhibition is an important preview for the fourth edition of MAS WEEK, Festival of Architecture, Design and Contemporary Art, conceived by MAS-Modern Apulian Style, created by the Ella Association with the contribution of the Municipality of Taranto, with the collaboration of CRAC Puglia (Contemporary Art Research Centre), the Taranto Grand Tour and local and national institutions and associations.
"The works on display by Lanfranco Aceti - as the curator writes -, channel timeless emotions, both contemporary and mythological, transforming them into a contemporary narrative of redemption, challenge and the art of the curse. In this ghostly atmosphere of forgotten truths, Whispers of Amnesia stirs our collective memory, urging us to confront our social and individual amnesia. While these whispers persist, we are invited to film the stories, memories and identities that have been shelved, obscured and hidden.
Between veiled narratives and participatory textile works, Whispers of Amnesia invites us to be witnesses of the ghosts of betrayal, of the shadows of abandonment and of the struggle to forget every single day what has passed in search of the will to live again for another day. While these whispers resound in the conflict between remembering and forgetting, the works of art ask viewers to reveal the toxic and forgotten events of the past, remembering everything, every single thing, to get as close as possible to the truth (ἀλήθεια) and move away from the chains of social amnesia (λήθη)".
Hours: Monday to Friday, from 9.30 to 13.00 (During the MAS WEEK Festival, from 24 to 28 October 2023, also open in the afternoon: from 16.30 to 20.30)
The exhibition will remain open until October 31 p.v.
