Their names are Dante Pessina, Arialda Repossi, Maria Brasca, Cornelio Binda, Rita Boniardi known as la Gilda: they are some of the protagonists of "The secrets of Milan", the saga of an intense and vivid Milan narrated by Giovanni Testori between 1958 and 1961. Their popular epic takes place in that area of the city whose axis is via Mac Mahon, the road which from the center creeps into the heart of the north-western suburbs, crosses the Ghisolfa Bridge, between Bovisa, Vialba and Roserio, and continues with a lunge also on Giambellino.
The "Born in Mac Mahon" exhibition will bring these beloved characters to life in the reinterpretation of 20 illustrators. Installations, images, videos and sounds will populate the rooms of Casa Testori, where the writer who, more than 60 years ago, imagined and narrated these characters lived.
Along the exhibition route, the public will realize real encounters, thanks to creative and evocative set-ups developed with the individual artists, so that Testori's human comedy will return to the stage, through sequences and situations that recall, room after room, the theatrical acts. The finale will be an off-show: artists Danilo Sciorilli and Alberto Montorfano have been asked to tackle two characters from Testori's last creative season, to witness how he dramatically changed his vision of Milan: they are Riboldi Gino from "In exitu" and Madame "La Flüte" from "Gli Angeli dello sterminio."
