The SACCA gallery in Modica presents the personal exhibition of the artist Vlady, alias Vlady Art or Vladyart (Catania 1976, lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden), entitled “Nothing comes in a straight line”.

Curated by Giovanni Scucces together with the artist, it was born following his great American adventure, by bicycle and alone: ​​the crossing of the United States, a coast to coast journey that lasted 80 days and was over 6,000 km long, carried out in the summer of last year. The artist's intentions were not to establish a record (it wasn't the first, it won't be the last), nor to organize and experience this journey with the aim of making it an exhibition. However, an artist riding a bike is still an artist. And as such, he first captured and then felt the need to organize, produce and exhibit what he experienced in those days.

The title reminds us that in life nothing proceeds in a straight line, no path (even and above all in a metaphorical sense) is linear and free of obstacles, climbs and unknowns. Vlady, among other things, is not an athlete. For him the journey mainly represents a performative action. In this way the boundary between life and work disappears. As he wrote in his travel notes, “the undertaking is the work of art”.
And in this case he gives us concrete proof of it. In fact, without this cycling performance, the 80 works (and more) that will fill the entire room would not have been created, as many as the days in the saddle and the kilometers traveled on average every day.
