In December 2022 the artist Gianpaolo Berto passed away in Rome. It therefore arose, for the cultural institutions of the Polesine territory including Muvig, the theme of a fitting tribute and recognition for his art. Adriese by birth, he was an interpreter with strong and recognizable traits of contemporary taste, capable in his long career of forging significant ties with pivotal figures of Italian art such as De Chirico, Tono Zancanaro and Carlo Levi. So it is the Muvig in the Municipality of Canaro (RO), an interactive and digital museum dedicated to the art of Renaissance painter Benvenuto Tisi da Garofolo, that is hosting this extraordinary initiative, through the synergy between the Municipal Administration of Canaro, the Pop Out culture, art and tourism company and the rich art collections housed in Villa Morosini di Polesella. The fundamental idea that animates this project curated by Michael Miazzi and Evelin Crepaldi, wants to be a tale through art and centuries in which to dialogue with Giampaolo Berto in this script, made of pictorial phrases and chromatic episodes, is in fact Garofalo. Truly immense appears at a first glance the span of time that divides them, studded with myriads of events that -as Carlo Levi reminds us precisely- we all habitually bring together in a universal category: History. Yet they are surprising -in studying their characters and biographies- especially the points of tangency, sometimes evident and luminous other times concealed and for this reason more precious. The exhibition "Gianpaolo Berto: Dialogues" therefore aims to build bridges and establish contacts between these two interpreters of painting, through a careful selection of works from the collection of Eng. Luciano Zerbinati, stimulating the curiosity of discovery in a journey that combines feeling, imagination and creative knowledge. The Muvig exhibition halls, characterized by digital aspects and interactivity, will thus be enriched with 20 works of contemporary art created by Giampaolo Berto and his masters, so as to offer visitors a path of rediscovery thanks to key figures in the artistic history of our territory and beyond. In each section of the exhibition, the permanent display will be commented by thematically selected works, accompanied with didactic panels to support and supplement the display. Above all, however, the element that constitutes the plot and at the same time the poetic setting of this tale in two voices is a land: the Polesine. This extraordinary "peasant moorland"-as Sgarbi called it-has offered as a gift to both painters the primordial emotions of life, those that you discover in childhood and that make you conceive a deep pleasure that you would like to imagine without end. The exhibition will be open every fourth Sunday of the month from until the end of October, or by reservation for groups at info@pop-out.it
