Matteo Casari is born in Genova in 1978 and graduated in Architecture in 2010. He has devoted himself both to music production in various projects and to visual communication of architecture in the Grooppo.org studio. He is president of the cultural association Disorder Drama with which he has managed numerous international and local events, festivals, photography workshops, screen printing, and fanzine creation. He manages Marseille Records, which has released more than 85 physical and digital music releases. He often collaborates with photographer Anna Positano and has opened a print lab, TroppaTrama Print Lab, where he works with Stefania Bianucci on dissemination, consulting and production. TroppaTrama is a project that has been working on printmaking and its dissemination in the community since 2015, connecting artists and organizations that could use it. Born as an internal service for self-productions (posters, fanzines, t-shirts) of the cultural association DisorderDrama, a collective active since 2000 in Genoa, it aims to circulate know-hows related to low-resolution and easy-access techniques (screen printing, risography, xerography) through events, presentations and workshops.
C/O Kunsthalle Chiavari will be exhibited:
- Le Praline / The Pralines, a box of chocolates in which Anna and Matteo collected objects found on the ground in the windy street of Genoa where they lived between 2011 and 2020: old photos, puzzle pieces, dedicated self-portraits, torn book pages, postcards, positive and negative images, assorted pieces of paper... Edited, printed and stapled at Troppa Trama Print Lab on 180gr usomano paper in cm 20x28 size with three Risograph colors (Yellow, Light Red, Medium Blue) and hand screen printed cover - 2021-23 / 50
- Hoarder's Delight #1 / A collection created to quiet the author's cravings for serial accumulation, to try to save a copy by dispersing, perhaps, the original. The material is collected at flea markets (next releases: photos of 1950s Milan street surveys, a 1960s company's vehicle catalog, slides from a 1980s rafting club). First issue: titles from the 1970s "Wake Up!" magazine, repurposed in original two-tone, printed with Light Red and HD Black inks in Risograph at Troppa Trama Print Lab on Clairefontaine Trophée 80gr orange paper, format cm18x9 staple binding, with a free screenprinted T-Shirt - 2020 / 44
- Casari: On Leaving / Matteo Casari, with his Argus Argoflex E, a double-lens camera from the 1940s, sometimes remembers to portray artists as they leave the morning after playing, moments after van loads have solidified an intense friendship born, on average, eighteen hours earlier. Printed in Risograph at Troppa Trama Print Lab with Medium Blue ink on 180gr usomano paper and light blue cardstock cover, A5 size with staple binding - 2019 / 50
