The Regional Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Palermo joins the Contemporary Day with free entry to the exhibition rooms of Palazzo Belmonte Riso and with the temporary exhibition "IS-LAND" by photographer Fabio Sgroi at the Albergo delle Povere. In the museum headquarters of Palazzo Belmonte Riso, a wide selection of works from the Museum's permanent collection can be enjoyed which includes works created by Sicilian artists active on and off the island, from the 1950s to today, alongside works by Italian or international artists who they worked in Sicily also called for specific projects. The common thread of the collection, therefore, is the link between the works and the artists and the territory. On display at Palazzo Belmonte Riso, works by Carla Accardi, Giovanni Anselmo, Rosario Arizza, Micol Assäel, Christian Boltanski, Michele Canzoneri, Pietro Consagra, Jannis Kounellis, Paola Pivi, Antonio Sanfilippo, Emilio Isgrò, Richard Long.
The exhibition itinerary was enriched in 2023 with photographs, installations, paintings and videos acquired through ministerial tenders. With the “Paths of Memory” project (PAC 2020), curated by Rosaria Raffaele Addamo, works by internationally renowned artists - Vanessa Beecroft, Shay Frisch, Regina José Galindo, Hermann Nitsch, Aldo Palazzolo - who have marked the cultural and exhibition activity of the last two decades on the island, in connection with the permanent collection of the Museum starting from some conceptual nuclei linked to the theme of memory, death, the body as energy, vital power, bearer of stories and matter Viva. The new museum exhibition also features installations by Cesare Viel, winner of the Italian Council, and Irene Coppola, winner of Cantica21, alongside the most recent acquisitions of works by Gianfranco Anastasio, the recently deceased Guido Baragli, Bizhan Bassiri, Michele Ciacciofera, Rossella Leone, Enzo Rovella, Medath Shafik. Also accessible again are the works already in the collection of barbaragurrieri/group, Alessandro Bazan, Bonaventura-Imbriaco-Severo, Francesco De Grandi, Andrea Di Marco, Fulvio Di Piazza, Loredana Longo, Domenico Mangano, Francesco Simeti and Croce Taravella.
