The topic of the 5 senses can be addressed on various levels, from the organic to the artistic one, but the most important aspect is because the sense organs are essential for receiving information from the surrounding world.
Looking at a painting, savoring a good meal, listening to a concert, smelling a flower, touching silk are just a portion of the opportunities that our senses give us.
If the senses were dormant or even compromised due to lack of stimulation or disability, man would live with the sensation of living inside a cave surrounded by darkness.
This pictorial project "the five senses" was born during the lockdown caused by the Corona Virus pandemic in 2020 and developed during the various decrees in 2021/2022.
In the global discomfort of two long years, between continuous "openings" and "closures", social limitations, isolation, closures of events among the most important bans on visiting museums and listening to concerts and the like; our senses were put to the test.
These 5 paintings were created by examining not only the perceptive functions of each organ (for the mouth it is taste), but also the organic and philosophical ones.
I conclude by inviting those who look at the works not to limit themselves to just one reading, perhaps mine (the author's) but to explore the sensations that the paintings associated with words want to convey.
