Zone Digitali is the festival dedicated to new media art that every year brings shows, performances, installations, meetings and much more to the city of Bergamo with the aim of bringing the public closer to art and new technologies while providing stimuli and reflections on the scenarios of the contemporary era thanks to the involvement of local and international artists and professionals.
Now in its sixth edition, Zone Digitali returns at DASTE, a contemporary cultural centre born from the redevelopment of the former Daste and Spalenga power station on the outskirts of Bergamo. For 2023, the year of Bergamo Brescia Italian Capital of Culture, the festival will be enriched with spectacular and engaging proposals, offering the public a unique edition with artists of great national and international recognition.
HACKING COMMUNITIES is the theme accompanying this year's edition: a reflection on human beings as a collective in our relationship with technologies.
"Hacking communities" wants to be an invitation to "break" (hack) our beliefs and preconceptions by opening ourselves up to the wonder of discovery. We want to ask questions and yearn for answers. We seek certainty in the unstable present by claiming the ability to imagine what will be in the future.
We seek a new way of interacting with reality by exploring what is unprecedented happens when known and unknown find contact; when one becomes many and many find connection with each other.
We explore a community that comes out of itself, that comes out of the individual but is nourished by the individual. A community capable of alternative forms of development that create profound mobilisations, continuous shifts and unstoppable negotiations. We want to learn to ask questions we didn't think we had and to look where we didn't look. Digital Zones 2023 wants to stimulate
critical thinking that opens up new reflections, possibilities and ways of connecting through novel juxtapositions of languages.
Future, collectivity and critical thinking are the pillars on which this year's edition rests, which aims to involve the public with interactive and participatory works, projects that feed on the contributions of the public or that reason about the many challenges of our time.
On Saturday 7th of October ad Daste there will be several installations: "Flux" by Collectif Scale, "Echos of hacked languages" by Turbospira, "Pathways" and "Asterismi" by Midi Motori Digitali, "Black Med" by invernomuto, and the exhibition "Floating Realities" in collaboration with the Bergamo Polytechnic of the Arts.
Saturday's programme is enriched by two moments of Public Program with the talk "Futura: experimentations for tomorrow", a dialogue between the collective Fosbury Architecture and the interaction designer Matteo Loglio (oio), in a second moment we will present an in-depth meeting with invernomuto authors of the work Black Med.
