The Museum of Love was born from the passion of Elisa Mantellassi and Roberto Casati for
collect works of art dedicated to Love.
The collection is kept at the Spicciano villa in Vaiano (Tuscany, Italy).
The founding principle of the Museum of Love is to "lend" the works free of charge
to other museums and important artistic foundations.
The villa, a pre-Renaissance structure, was the residence of the Orlandi family.
In the garden and in the rooms of the villa are exhibited:
- 11 works, inserted in the bed of 11 egg-shaped lamps, so as to express 11 conceptions of Love, from its birth onwards.
Each work is a different artist and is a unique creation.
The egg lamps are an art-design creation by Elisa and Roberto Casati.
- An egg armchair with the sculpture "The Eternal Moment" inserted, or the infinite ecstasy that envelops us after the first kiss. The work was created by Roberto Casati and Daniela Billi.
- An egg armchair which, with its colours, represents the rainbow of the emotions of Love.
- The great Papyrus "After the Storms", wrapped around a centuries-old tree, which represents the sweet reunion after a storm of Love. The work, by Roberto Casati for the Portofino Park Museum, is temporarily in Spicciano.
- As well as numerous other works, an artist's book, two songs, some poems...
Some of the artists will lead visitors in exploring the works and their meanings.
The works of the Museum of Love have recently been lent to:
- Medieval cloister of the former Convent of San Pier Maggiore in Pistoia for the "San
Valentine's Day 2023";
- Villa Aurora in Florence for the meeting "My eyes saw your body" August 2023;
- Jorio Vivarelli Foundation, Pistoia, on the theme: Love and Spirituality. May 2024
