"Ruah" in the Hebrew language means wind, but in a broader sense it indicates something that has the power to set in motion, an unpredictable force. Originally it indicated the air, the atmosphere, an impalpable reality that can manifest itself as the devastating force of the storm. The site-specific installation for the Chippendale Studio space is connected to an extreme weather event that occurred last year, in which very strong storms caused the Seveso river to overflow, resulting in the flooding of the room that houses the work. The image displayed was created using satellite footage recorded by NASA on the date corresponding to the event. Human action has evolved to the point that it can leave its mark on a global scale. It is the aesthetics of catastrophe that still captures us and which inevitably draws our attention.
