The topic of the Giornata del Contemporaneo 2024 day is accessibility as freedom, be it material, moral, experience and life.

This year the day falls during the Cristiano Quagliozzi | exhibition Milena Scardigno, Time matrix (Matrici temporali in Italian, for the printing matrix): the two artists worked together on 24 engravings, in intaglio and linocut respectively, on the theme of the calendar and the horoscope, understood both as a measurement of physical time and as expectation and hope of different times and opportunities. Despite our scientific knowledge - indeed thanks to it - today time is no longer considered unilinear, but Humanity still searches in the stars for the sign of a predestination which can be a game, which can become a limit and even an emotional prison. Precisely for this reason, the artists, in a context of references, alternations and coincidences, have inserted different symbolic elements into their matrices, which on the one hand refer to tradition and on the other play freely with them in a surreal way. In the time of dreams and the unconscious, artists claim the possibility of inner freedom, the first necessary so that the psychological barriers that prevent awareness and emancipation can be broken down.
