Special episode of the Fuorisedia podcast: interview with artists Scartoni/Donati by Giacomo Donati and Irene Scartoni for the Italo Bolano Foundation's TRAVASARE residency project
TRAVASARE is the new project of the creative residency program between Prato and Elba Island of the Italo Bolano Foundation, curated by artistic director Erica Romano, winner of the Toscanaincontemporanea2024 call for proposals of the Region of Tuscany, dedicated in particular to artists under 35 and involving the duo Scartoni/Donati, composed of Giacomo Donati (Castelfranco di Sotto, PI, 1999) and Irene Scartoni (Castiglion F.no, AR, 1996).
The interview is curated by Fuorisedia, by Letizia Albertini, Viola Pierozzi, Martina Scrazzolo and Valeria Shabani, an all-female-run podcast of art-historical popularization usable on YouTube and Spotify, mainly focused on the contemporary art system and mapping the realities present and active on the Italian territory (the project is a Solidarity Project born in Bologna with the support of the European Union).
The artists will talk about their creative process, dropped in particular in the residency experience lived on the Island of Elba, where Scartoni/Donati worked on the theme of the transfer of knowledge and knowledge, as well as on the care of places and people who preserve their memory. They will recount the way of working, the ideas and solutions that lie within their complex practice, which is nourished in parallel by multimedia and performative languages, combined with actions of care and active participation that also call into question the community.
