BARBARA BONFILIO The pleasure in the pathless woods is a solo exhibition taking place in the renovated venue of Ellebi Galleria e Dimora D'arte, on the occasion of the 20th Day of Contemporary Art promoted by AMACI.

BARBARA BONFILIO The pleasure in the pathless woods is the title chosen to describe the soft immersion in the artist's universe, who reorganises the world order through pictorial action, always poised between the everyday and the unreal, between nature and spirituality. The exhibition recreates a scenographic space in the gallery, the artist's studio, a Byronic refuge in which to search for details, to unearth them, to allow oneself to be immersed in colours and visions for a shared sensory experience. Through the artworks on display, as well as through everyday elements such as easels, tables, books, scrolls, evergreen plants, the intention is to architect another reality, the intimate and complex reality of the artist. Her experiments, attempts, intuitions, elaborations of creative processes that entrust the observer with the responsibility of investigating and grasping between the faults of the refined interweaving of tension and serenity the archetypal and primordial tropes that nourish common spirituality.

I investigate the relationship between man and his/her surroundings, the spaces that envelop and reflect our body in the physical and spiritual dimension... I am not interested in reproducing reality as it is, but rather in evoking images that can be variously interpreted. I am, in fact, intrigued by how the mind can evoke and create new worlds by combining fragments of memories of lived experiences and inner visions.

Therefore, the artworks selected for the exhibition traverse the space of fruition and the time of the encounter with the viewer, offering a dense and in-depth synthesis of her artistic practice and conceptual poetics. Her approach is subjective, relational and intimate. The one of concretely crossing the gateway to discover a parallel dimension: the artist's studio, which from a private place becomes an exceptionally shared territory of emotions, images, visions. At the end of the exhibition there will be a site-specific catalogue created on the project, produced by Ellebi Galleria and Dimora D'arte and with texts by Martina Cavallarin and Antonio Caruso.
