The narrative and emotional photographic journey brings to life the celebrations of 14 and 15 July 2024, on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the "Festino di Santa Rosalia". On show are the photographs of the 13 authors, journalists and photographers, who took part in the competition ‘Palermo blooms with Santa Rosalia’: Giuseppina Avola, Massimiliano Charlie Burgio, Luca Caccia, Antonino Costa, Tiziana Dipietro, Carmelo Fornaro, Francesco Geraci, Adriana Guercio, Maria Lannino, Daniele Li Volsi, Igor Petyx, Massimiliano Serrago, Andrea Vagni.
The exhibition is introduced by some videos and enriched by some images taken from the ‘Rehearsals’ of the Festino, shot by photographer Marcella Consuelo Giuffrè for Albamedia. The photographs translate this important iconic event for the city of Palermo into contemporary art. Photography becomes an artistic tale, investigating reality, beauty, pain, moments of life through an autonomous and personal language. These images invite us to observe reality with attentive, sensitive eyes, capturing moments imbued with meaning, evocative and emotional.
