For the Giornata del Contemporaneo 2024 organized by AMACI, the Fondazione Giorgio Cini publishes online, on the website cini.it and on the Foundation's YouTube channel, the preview of Chameleon, a work by the international collective Universal Everything set in the historic Longhena Library.
Produced by Fondazione Giorgio Cini, Chameleon is inspired by the digitalized work that the Foundation is doing through the Digital Centre, a digitalization research laboratory that has become an international reference point for cultural heritage development.
The project is a new way to tell the story of the island and the research being conducted here: Chameleon wanders around the island of San Giorgio Maggiore in a visionary, high-definition walk, exploring monumental areas and becoming part of the fabric of the Foundation.
The combination of contemporary digital technologies and historical and artistic heritage is therefore designed with the aim of inviting the public to immerse themselves in the space, where accessibility is understood as the removal of cultural and architectural barriers. Chameleon offers an opportunity to reflect on the individual's reaction to the surrounding space: the walking figure transforms itself by changing matter, color and texture, becoming the symbol of a new concept of accessibility understood as the promotion of knowledge.
Chameleon not only makes access to the Foundation’s sites possibile, but also opens a dialogue on multiple points of view concerning both the historical artistic heritage and the contemporary world, expanding the meaning of the project.
