The Director Prof. Elisabetta Scalera and all the Officine Arte ed Architettura Staff of the Artistic High School are pleased to present to you the usual activity designed for the XX Contemporary Art Day, the great event dedicated to contemporary art promoted by AMACI, which will be held on Saturday 12 October 2024.

To celebrate this important event, the Liceo Artistico "D. De Ruggieri" will organize an artistic workshop aimed at middle school students, open to schools in the #gravinart4.0 network. The theme of the workshop will be developed around the installation entitled #Ingabbianonresto, inspired by the guiding work of this edition: Woman in a cage (1975/2024) by Tomaso Binga, feminist artist and activist for women's rights. This work represents a profound reflection on the condition of subordination and on social and gender inequalities.

Feedback.The female body, traditionally associated with Nature as a regenerating force, symbolizes an indissoluble bond between body and environment. Today, the imbalance between man and nature leads us towards a crisis. In particular, the drama of the Taranto area emerges, where the right to health is compromised by industry. Art, with symbols such as the cage and nature, expresses this complaint, replacing the female body with native plants as a sign of struggle and resistance.During the workshop, the middle school students, guided by their teachers and supported by the art high school students, will create modular works on canvas in A4 format. The result of the workshop will consist of a large modular floor installation which will be inaugurated at the Lungo Valle of Massafra, during the Contemporary Day on 12 October at 11.30 am. The modules created by each school will then be returned and can be displayed within each participating school, keeping alive the memory of a day dedicated to the fight against discrimination. A documentary video of the entire experience, created by the staff of the Liceo Artistico "De Ruggieri" Officina arte edarchitettura, will be shared with the participating schools, institutions and press outlets and published on the national AMACI and Youtube platform.
