Starting from “Woman in cage” (1975/2024) by Tomaso Binga (pseudonym of Bianca Pucciarelli Menna), the guiding image for the Twentieth Giornata del Contemporaneo, Andrea Matarazzo and Elisabetta Panico/Beibi Laplá rework the leitmotif of this with their own expressive languages edition, focusing on the theme of the cage as a barrier that is not only physical, but also metaphorical, presenting the exhibition itinerary "The Cage" at the Circolo Arci Avionica in Avellino, which can be visited from 12 October to 27 October 2024.

Elisabetta Panico/Beibi Laplá with her analogue collages showcases the cage as a dreamlike place where one can be safe, challenging the paradox. It raises mysterious and circumscribed worlds, where one can rebel against the limits of the rational mind and repressive social norms. The chair, as a compositional element that occurs in every work exhibited, becomes a symbolic element: the expectation of trust for a visionary reality that becomes tangible, in which to feel "comfortable", where one can let go of judgments on it like clothes. dirty.
If the chair is the allegorical handle from which to start to free the constructed thought, Andrea Matarazzo hooks up to the theme of the cage, noting in his shots a society that manifests the widespread sense of insecurity given precisely by the lack of solid handles to hold on to, winking at Bauman's ideologies of liquid society. In this direction he measures himself with the photographic/mixed language, focusing on the figure of man who suffers and supports intellectual barriers as a means of protection, architectural and cultural cages that place perceptive distances, stem the overflow, and which the artist highlights to launch a demolition message. The answer and at the same time the solution to the closing drama thus becomes curiosity, a weapon capable of clearing the gaze and broadening the possibilities of ordinary thought.

The exhibition will be inaugurated on Saturday 12 October at 7.30 pm, and can be visited until 27 October 2024 at Avionica Circolo Arci.
