SATURA participates in the 20th edition of Giornata del Contemporaneo, promoted by AMACI Associazione dei Musei d'Arte Contemporanea Italiani and dedicated this year to the theme of accessibility.
For the occasion, SATURA presents the research of artist Anna Rocco focused on the concept of patchwork. The protagonist of her works are fabrics, Marimekko, Mila Schön, Falconetto, cotton from the Ghidoli cloth mills, textures by Anna Dova, which after careful selection are cut, juxtaposed and sewn.
The patterns and colours of the fabrics combined by the artist speak to each other to create an engaging whole in each work, but also a deeper metaphorisation of material objects.
The stitched stitch or the crossing of a weft with a warp can be charged with a speculative quality, re-establishing the art-life link that characterised the spirit of the Avant-gardes. In the history of a fabric, one can discover the continuity that links identity and gender reflections, rethinking the function and role of these media in art and constructing narratives that, starting from the personal, flow into the universal.
