PICCA CONTEMPORARY ART on October 12th at 6.30 pm opens the exhibition AN ANCHOR EVER MORE LIGHT by Kiril Cholakov, curated by Giuseppe Tomasello, Elisa Di Domenicantonio.

The journey, time that slows down, aging, loneliness, memories, fragility...What we abandon before leaving, what we get rid of, what we have to forgive, forget, to become light, ever lighter..."

For that occasion, a single large canvas measuring 160 x 260 cm will be exhibited, created with pencil, acrylic and ash. Kiril Cholakov's works focus on the themes of inner "disorientation", intersection and hybridization of identity. He reconstructs and invents forgotten paths to reconfigure his own personal geography, from a strongly biographical perspective, to create works of surprising poetry. His story is the basis of the work of "dismantling images and words". Through imaginary writing, a universal language, Kiril builds a bridge between the sense of loss of place, characteristic of postmodernism, and the ways in which feelings of belonging arise at the intersection of personal and collective memory.


Biography
Kiril Cholakov was born in 1964 in Sofia, Bulgaria. Lives and works in Rimini, Italy and Izvòr, Bulgaria. He trained at the National Academy of Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria, between the 20th and 21st centuries and continued his journey in Italy where he has lived for more than
20 years. Kiril's works are often interested in social and political themes through a search for topics that concern inner "disorientation", loneliness, collective and personal memory, the relationship between man and nature, expressed through different languages ​​and techniques: drawing, painting, sculpture, photography,
installation, video. Kiril is an artist considered a "visual poet" who combines power, delicacy, poetry and visual harmony in his work.
