Presentation of the Artistic Residency "Rammemor-azioni"
Curated by Francesco Piazza

The artistic residency "Rammemor-azioni" represents a profound dialogue between art and science, inspired by the legacy of naturalist Francesco Minà Palumbo and the observation of the Madonie landscape. The invited artists – Cetty Previtera, Piero Roccasalvo RUB, Samantha Torrisi, and Giuseppe Vassallo – were tasked with interpreting the territory through a creative process that blends memory and environmental reflection.

Centered on the concept of rammemorazione (remembrance), understood as both an artistic and philosophical practice, the residency aims to explore the tensions between the past and today's pressing ecological issues. The works produced, emerging from a deep connection with the animal and plant species studied by Minà Palumbo and his work as a scientific illustrator, convey a vision that intertwines the rigor of naturalistic research with contemporary sensibilities.

Each artist approached the complexity of these themes through their own expressive language, creating artistic works that, while rooted in the Madonie landscape, open up to universal reflections on environmental challenges. The artworks created during the residency will become part of the permanent collection of the emerging art gallery at the Francesco Minà Palumbo Natural History Museum in Castelbuono, leaving an important legacy for the museum's future.

This online event offers a unique opportunity to delve into the artists' creative processes, sharing with the audience the meaning of the works in relation to the territory and collective memory.
