Fondazione MACC in Calasetta presents Light and Fight, by Zehra Doğan, the first solo exhibition in Sardinia by the Kurdish artist, journalist, and activist, one of the most powerful voices in Contemporary Art.
Doğan has turned prison into a space for remembering, life in hiding into a means of expression, and vulnerability into a political and poetic language.
The exhibition is the result of a collaboration with Prometeo Gallery in Milan, and it was made possible with the support of Fondazione di Sardegna.
Light and Fight tells a story of resistance through images, words, and marks that stand firm in the face of violence and repression. Calasetta welcomes Doğan’s unmistakable voice in a gesture of solidarity – between an island on the edge, poised between Africa, the Mediterranean, and Europe, and a woman who has always lived on the margins of imposed boundaries: geographic, political, personal, and gendered.
On Saturday, 4th October, as part of the Giornata del Contemporaneo, free guided tours of the exhibition will take place from 5 to 8pm, at both the Museum and the Tower.
