Tiber Art Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of the exhibition
“DAMIEN HIRST – SPINNING SYMBOLS”,
which will take place on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 6:00 PM,
at Via di Parione 9, Rome.
The exhibition will be open to the public until November 10, 2025, and will feature a significant selection of Spin Paintings — works in which color bursts into centrifugal vortices contained within symbolic shapes such as hearts, butterflies, skulls, and circles.
Damien Hirst (Bristol, 1965) is among the most renowned figures on the international contemporary art scene. Since the 1980s, as part of the Young British Artists, he has explored, through diverse artistic languages, the great themes of existence: life, death, faith, science, and the very value of art itself.
On this occasion, visitors will have the opportunity to discover a selection of Spin Paintings, one of Hirst’s most iconic and surprising series. In these works, the artist entrusts the creation of the image to movement and chance: paint is poured onto rotating canvases, and the centrifugal force spreads the color into unpredictable trajectories, generating striking radial compositions.
The result is a celebration of energy, vitality, and creative freedom, reflecting Hirst’s passion for the expressive power of color. Despite their apparent lightness, the Spin Paintings form part of a broader artistic journey in which Hirst continues to investigate the deep relationship between life, death, and human fragility — themes that have always been central to his work.
