The house is examined here as a primary symbol of humanity, in its symbolic-recognizable sense as a principle of abstraction that, starting from the “real,” becomes an element conveying concepts and meanings such as personal security, the need for a refuge, the possibility of an untouchable space, and protection. The graphic work derives from the theory of shadows, a representational code used to render reality; but the “real,” which is the concern of art, should not be confused with the “true,” which becomes only a distant reflection of thought, the unattainable.
The real and the virtual are thus reflections of culture and other matters through which contemporary life unfolds, and on which it becomes necessary to reflect. Today, what does “home” mean? Theory of Shadows investigates the cultural process that grants a symbol its reality, becoming simultaneously present and absent; indeed, the shadow of the house—an engraving of light—is depicted fully and deliberately not adhering to the very theory of shadows; it is represented misaligned, crumpled.
Theory of Shadows is an unresolved question, an open issue that, being multiple, must be explored by those who choose to engage with the project. In fact, anyone can download a copy of the manifesto and become a spokesperson for new contemporary reflections.
What defines a place is the house—mental, real, or depicted—a matter of affection and our need for roots, to which it does not matter if the shadow does not coincide with the sunlight. Yet our contemporaneity seems like an appointment of shadows that we can only miss when we are confronted with the true. The house can therefore be read as an emphasis on the importance of our world, whatever it may be: it is worth noting that the theories of representation are as far removed from the truth of the world as they are codified. Matters of thought and geography.

During the event, anyone will be able to freely download the poster and decide how to bring it to life:
* hang it around the city,
* print it as a flyer to distribute,
* frame it as an artwork,
* share it on social media,
or transform it into a personal and creative gesture.

In this way, the manifesto becomes not only an image, but a collective action, a tool for learning and shared reflection.

We invite all participants to tag us on social media so that we can track all the works contributing to this collective action.
