THE BREAD OF HEAVEN, THE BREAD OF JUBILEE
by Mario Alvarez

Mario Alvarez's project is the result of a lifelong journey dedicated to artistic, spiritual, and personal exploration. A journey of faith, passed down to him by his mother, which the artist expresses in his life and bears witness to through his work. Indeed, Mario Alvarez has always explored the theme of the sacred in its connection to our contemporary lives.

In this project, bread is central, as a symbol of the most sacred food for all human beings, the very symbol of life.

The project also aims to demonstrate how contemporary art can contribute to raising awareness of issues such as sustainability, the environment, biodiversity, and food waste. The artist has always been concerned with nature and its protection, recycling and recovering waste materials to produce works of art. He has always considered food sacred, and both in his life and in his work, he recovers and reinvents foods to avoid waste.

The sculpture that inspired the project was born from a leftover dough, which was about to be discarded, to which the artist wanted to give new life and new meaning.
This sourdough sculpture represents the ferment that gives rise to bread, the primary form of nourishment and sharing for human beings. At the same time, it aims to raise awareness of how much food is wasted every day and how we can avoid it.

It is with this spirit that Mario Alvarez creates the dough that becomes "the Bread of Heaven, the Bread of the Jubilee" and which is the protagonist of traveling exhibitions, performances, installations, and educational workshops to spread a more conscious approach to the issue of food waste.
