20th Giornata del Contemporaneo

Giornata del Contemporaneo is the major event promoted annually by AMACI - Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums, with the support of the Ministry of Culture - Directorate-General for Contemporary Crativity and with the collaboration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation - Directorate-General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy, which involves museums, foundations, public and private institutions, galleries, studios and artists' spaces in Italy and abroad with the aim of bringing out, in a single day, the network of subjects and realities that promote the art of our days and its languages.

Also this year, the museums associated with AMACI, alongside all the subjects and realities that ad here to the initiative, will open their doors free of charge on Saturday 12 October 2024, to propose a multifaceted program dedicated to contemporary visual arts in all its declinations, involving not only large cities, but also smaller centers, which have always been very active highlighting the important function that the contemporary plays in the cultural, social and economic development of our country.

The common thread of this 20th edition is the theme of accessibility, understood in a broad sense as the removal of cultural, intellectual, sensory and architectural barriers to ensure full access to contemporary culture, in response to the need to rethink the art system through greater awareness and more widespread sensitivity.

Thanks to the collaboration of the Farnesina diplomatic network, from Sunday 6 October to Saturday 12 October 2024, the Giornata del Contemporaneo will also extend abroad with the Giornata del Contemporaneo - Italian Contemporary Art for a week-long promotion of Italian contemporary art.

INFORMATION

The event is addressed to artists, museums, foundations, art galleries, cultural institutions and associations, and all those entities that promote contemporary art - but also to Embassies, Consulates General of Italy and Italian Cultural Institutes - inviting them to organize one or more initiatives and present exhibitions, meetings, workshops and events free of charge to the public on Saturday 12 October 2024. To include the initiative within the program schedule of the 20th Day of the Contemporary, it will be necessary to register your event on the amaci.org website through a dedicated application form that will be available in the coming months on amaci.org.
