Together with the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture, we announce the inclusion of two new public collections in RAAM – Research Archive of AMACI Museums, the online catalogue dedicated to the heritage and contemporary art collections of museums associated with AMACI.
Joining RAAM today are the collection of MAC – Lissone Museum of Contemporary Art and that of the Luigi Spazzapan Regional Gallery of Contemporary Art in Gradisca d’Isonzo. They are added to the collections already present, further expanding the mapping and knowledge of Italy’s public contemporary art heritage.
Moreover, during 2025, the complete collection of Museion – Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Bolzano underwent a comprehensive process of review and reorganisation. The entire holding was updated through the addition of numerous new images and the revision of the catalogue data for the works. This work has significantly improved the overall quality, accessibility and organisation of the information available.
Established through the joint initiative of the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture (formerly the Directorate-General for Contemporary Art and Architecture and Urban Peripheries of MiBACT) and AMACI, RAAM – Research Archive of AMACI Museums is a digital archive accessible online at www.archivioraam.org, conceived to highlight the scope and quality of the contemporary art heritage – from 1966 to the present – held in museums associated with AMACI.
The archive gathers and makes accessible the collections of 23 public museums – national, regional, provincial and municipal – forming the AMACI network, offering a unique overview in terms of breadth, complexity and scholarly value. It includes 12,942 contemporary artworks by 4,363 artists. The project’s uniqueness lies in its ability to bring together, within a single tool, the works of 23 Italian museums coordinated by the AMACI network, thus ensuring an overall view of the heritage represented by the collections of the associated museums, while also enabling users to consult individual works online, complete with images and related information.
The archive is an ongoing project, continuously updated and enriched by AMACI museums, which contribute to the growth of the public heritage in accordance with their respective acquisition policies.
Within the website, users can carry out advanced searches and consult detailed records for each work, complete with images and information on the artist, date, technique, materials and holding museum. RAAM is not only an agile and innovative research system, but also a tool for knowledge and transparency: a point of access for scholars, professionals in the field, museum audiences and digital users interested in exploring the quality, scope and distribution of Italy’s public contemporary art heritage.
