Set up to dialogue with the Trento Festival dell’Economia, Everyday Life examines the theme of a Trentino event now on its 14th edition: globalisation, nationalism and representation.
At a historic juncture like the present one, with its continual and chaotic exposure to images produced and disseminated at growing speed, the vision technologies generate more or less realistic images which influence cultural and social mores. From open data to propaganda, even political, economic and social themes are dealt with in stereotyped and banalised ways.
This Galleria Civica exhibition develops this theme by enquiring into socio-economic phenomena and changes via the most recent photographic research, video installations and specific topic interventions. There is work from the great international masters from the Mart Collection on show such as Andreas Gursky, Fischli & Weiss, Shirin Neshat and Wolfgang Tillmans, made in the 1990s when globalisation processes were still embryonic, together with certain contemporary Italian centre stage players who analyse the contradictions and stereotypes of our times: Adrian Paci, Alessandro Calabrese, Brigitte Niedermair, Daniele Girardi, Dido Fontana, Discipula, Filippo Berta, Filippo Minelli, Giovanni Morbin, Hannes Egger, Ingrid Hora, Nicolò Degiorgis, Paolo Ciregia, The Cool Couple.
